One of the basic needs of human beings is to have clean, safe water in adequate quantities. This is an enormous challenge all over the world. Because of the warming up of the world climate, clean potable water has become more scarce and valuable in most parts of the world. FCG Group has a strong focus on developing efficient use of water resources and producing and distributing clean potable water to clients, both in urban and rural areas. In poverty reduction, access to clean water is considered a key element. The efficient use of water is vital – today agriculture is the biggest user of scarce water resources.
Proper collection, treatment and disposal of wastewater are considered the most effective ways of reducing the environmental pollution of the final recipients: seas, lakes and rivers. FCG group has been dealing with wastewater collection and proper treatment and disposal of wastewater in Finland and all over the world for about 60 years. A very high percentage of the population in the world still lacks proper sanitation or wastewater collection and treatment facilities. These components as well as clean water are very closely related to health issues.
The increasing need to reduce environmental pollution can also be addressed by proper solid waste management. Properly arranged solid waste management is considered key to reducing environmental pollution of the ground, air and surroundings of urban and rural areas. There is an increasing need to recycle solid waste instead of dumping, and the use of solid waste as an energy source has also increased. FCG Group has wide experience in developing more sound solid waste systems and treatment, for the benefit of the future generations.
There is an increasing need to reorganise water and wastewater utilities and the solid waste management systems to increase their efficiency for the benefit of the clients and the end-users – the population in rural and urban areas. FCG Group has been very active in institutional development and training of water and wastewater utilities and solid waste companies to improve their management practices.
